Lauren Kilgour, a Ph.D. candidate in information science, will join Princeton’s Center for Information Technology Policy as a postdoctoral research associate this Fall.

Kilgour — who is advised by Karen Levy, assistant professor in information science — studies the culture and politics of network technology, with specific emphasis on technology design and use in varied contexts. This research focus is distilled in her dissertation on the design, use, and implications of electronic ankle monitors. Along with published research in various journals, Kilgour has written essays for the New York Times and MIT Tech Review. Among her awards and honors, Kilgour was a visiting fellow with the Innovation Society at Technische Universitat Berlin in 2019, and was awarded a three-year doctoral fellowship from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada in 2017.
