The Information Science Masters of Professional Studies (MPS) Diversity & Excellence Scholarship was created to advance the Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science's commitment to access, equity, justice, and inclusion, and to enhance the diversity of the Information Science MPS student population. This scholarship is available on a competitive basis to all students applying to the program. This scholarship will provide the awardee with two semesters of tuition, the student health insurance premium and the student activity fee.
Eligibility: This scholarship is designed to provide support for all individuals from historically underrepresented groups. Permanent residents and International students who identify with any of the groups below will also be considered.
- African American
- American Indian/Alaskan Native
- Mexican American
- Native Hawaiian or another Native Pacific Islander
- Puerto Rican, or other Hispanic American;
Other identities and/or experiences historically underrepresented and/or marginalized within graduate education, but are not limited to:
- Being a first-generation college student
- Being a Veteran
- Being a single parent
- Holding DACA status
- Managing a disability
- Being of a gender and/or sexual orientation identity historically underrepresented in your field of study.
- International individuals who come from a country where access to higher education in Computing and Information Science has been a significant challenge.
How to apply: All applicants who wish to be considered for the Information Science MPS Diversity & Excellence Scholarship must indicate in the Financial Support section of the application they wish to be considered for a “Program-specific Scholarship or Grant”. Applicants must include with their application a Personal Statement of at most 400 words. This additional statement should explain how the program would benefit them based on one or more of the criteria outlined above. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
Success in education requires significant persistence and resilience. You should use your personal statement to address how your personal, academic, and/or experiences demonstrate your ability to be both persistent and resilient, especially when navigating challenging circumstances.
