Timur Uckun is a PhD Candidate in Information Science at Cornell University. His advisor is Steven Jackson. His committee members include Phoebe Sengers, Stephen Hilgartner and Robert Hockett. Timur is generally interested in exploring the implicit structures and underlying assumptions that exist in risk management and measurement practices. His research is currently focused on understanding how organizations and institutions perceive, negotiate and work around risks when faced with sociotechnical complexity. 

Prior to joining Cornell, Timur was a doctoral research fellow at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, School of Information and Library Science. He received a master’s degree in business administration from Baruch College, Zicklin School of Business.
