Join us for a public panel featuring three cutting-edge nonprofits that mix environmental activism, data, and accountability. The panel will address how these enterprises were launched, grew, and found funding; impacts they’ve made; pitfalls they’ve faced; communities they’ve worked with; and where they think new organizations might be needed.
Anyone interested in sustainability and technology is welcome to attend, and undergraduates are invited to participate in workshops the following day (https://bit.ly/r-r-reg). For more information see https://r-and-r.infosci.cornell.edu.
This panel is part of the Repair & Redress project of Cornell Information Science, with generous support from the Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability.
Featuring:
Public Lab // Liz Barry • Alahna Moore // Public Lab pursues environmental justice through community science and by developing open technology.
Littlesis // Ziggy Mintz • Derek Seidman // LittleSis is a free database of who-knows-who at the heights of business and government. It's used by journalists and activists to analyze the rich & powerful connections and financial transactions.
EDGI // Lourdes Vera • Alejandro Paz • Sandhya Iyer // Environmental Data and Governance Initiative (EDGI) is a multidisciplinary and cross-professional collaborative that documents and analyzes changes to environmental data, information and overall governance, and advocates for more just and effective policies and practices.
