Wei is a PhD candidate in Information Science at Cornell University. Her advisor is Prof. Michael Macy and she works in the SDL Lab. Before joining Cornell, she received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Peking University, a Master of Art in Developmental Psychology and a Master of Science in Human Factors from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

She is interested in understanding how different social network structures evolve and develop in Eastern and Western countries. She is also curious about how social networks are learned and mentally represented in human mind. She is trying to build computational models to represent this cognitive process.

She has also done studies in human-computer interaction, such as users' identity management on social media and users' sensemaking and information seeking behavior on the web. For more information, please visit her webpage.
